Terms of service

Last updated 16 October 2026

These terms govern your use of the Sublate browser extension and service operated by Clearbox ("we"). By installing or using Sublate you agree to them.

What Sublate does

Sublate translates subtitles shown by videos you are already entitled to watch, inside your own browser, for your personal viewing. It does not download, store, redistribute or alter the video itself.

Your responsibilities

  • Use Sublate only with content you have the right to watch, and in line with the terms of the site showing it.
  • Do not attempt to bypass metering, reverse engineer the service, or use it to build a competing dataset or service.
  • Keep your install token private; anyone with it can use your minutes.

Plans, billing and cancellation

The free plan includes a monthly allowance of translated minutes. Paid plans renew monthly through Stripe until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from the extension; access continues to the end of the paid period. Unused minutes do not roll over. Prices may change with at least 30 days' notice; an existing subscription keeps its price until you change plan.

Refunds

If Sublate did not work for you in the first 7 days of a paid plan, email us and we will refund that month in full.

Quality and availability

Translations are produced automatically and may contain errors. The service depends on third-party AI providers and video sites that can change without notice; we work to keep up but cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation or support for any particular site.

Liability

Sublate is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim.

Changes and termination

We may update these terms, with notice here and in the extension for material changes. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service. You may stop using Sublate at any time by uninstalling it.
